Most of you have seen at least a single movie from Netflix or at least heard the gossip, “Just binge watched this series” or “Abb to bss Rasode me Nexflix hi Stream hoga”. So what is Netflix?
How Does Netflix Work ?
let’s understand the basics behind it,
Netflix employs a user-friendly interface. It provides an option similar to a shopping cart known as a queue in which you can add whatever content you like and view it accordingly. Below the queue, you can find TV shows and movies according to their genre.
Original Scene (Being Tech-Savvy)
Netflix run the entire service to fit into a microservices architecture — which means that each application, or microservice’s code and resources are its very own.
Netflix estimates that it uses around 700 microservices to control each of the many parts of what makes up the entire Netflix service: one microservice stores what all shows you watched, one deducts the monthly fee from your credit card, one provides your device with the correct video files that it can play, one takes a look at your watching history and many more. Where do they run all of these microservices, though? Here Comes the main factor in the story, AWS. i.e. Amazon Web Services.
Netflix made a courageous decision to not of maintaining their own servers for running microservices, storing content and move all of their stuff to the AWS cloud i.e. run everything on the servers of AWS who dealt with maintaining the hardware while Netflix engineers wrote hundreds of programs and deployed it on the servers rapidly.
